Assistant Professor in Data Journalism/Artificial Intelligence
Penn State University is seeking an outstanding faculty member for an Assistant Professor position in the journalism department starting in August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the intellectual life of the college and department, focusing on data journalism and artificial intelligence within journalism contexts.

Responsibilities
Contribute to the broad intellectual life of the college and department
Demonstrate scholarly expertise in data journalism and/or artificial intelligence within journalism contexts
Teach undergraduate and graduate students
Engage in research related to data journalism and AI in journalism
Collaborate with faculty and programs in the department and across the Bellisario Media Center
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field (by start date)
Demonstrate appropriate experience with teaching undergraduate and graduate students
Scholarly expertise in data journalism and/or artificial intelligence within journalism contexts
Commitment to training the next generation of journalists to work responsibly and innovatively with data and emerging technologies
