The Inside Plant Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and performance of telephone equipment and ancillary systems, requiring strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the operation, maintenance and performance of telephone equipment and ancillary systems, including but not limited to Telephone Helpdesk, Cisco Call Manager, Nortel MSL-100 telephone switch, Callegra Voice Mail System, VESTA E911, Telecommunications Management System (TMS), and other related services
Handles phone calls for telephone support and repair
Completes all work orders for moves, adds, and changes of telephone services
Maintains detailed maintenance records and installation activities for equipment throughout Kirtland AFB
Coordinates with the customer on specific requirements, and where necessary and appropriate coordinates with other contractors
Qualification
Required
IAT 1 CompTIA A+ or Net+ certification
High School Diploma/GED
Valid New Mexico Driver's License
Active DOD SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain an interim clearance
Knowledge in telecommunications systems and practices to include VoIP concepts
Strong customer service skills
Strong communication skills
Strong task management skills
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Ability to meet with the customer tactfully and courteously
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers
Understanding of proper safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to working in a telephone switch environment
Experience with the tools and test equipment required for the installation and maintenance of telephone and data network services
Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Windows and Office products
