Responsibilities
Acting as the primary liaison between the Credit Union and Supervisory Committee for internal controls purposes
Overseeing audit engagements successfully from beginning to end within the allocated amount of time with a focus on key risks/controls
Maintaining open lines of communication with Management and the Supervisory Committee
Developing and reporting all future audit plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Managing and performing the full life cycles of internal audits, including scoping, testing, deficiency confirmation, and reporting for audits to ensure the financial safety and soundness of the credit union
Collaborating with and supporting internal and external stakeholders by sharing expertise and providing accurate and timely information related to audit status and/or other inquiries
Identifying control gaps and providing recommendation to department leaders
Managing the whistleblower program including conducting internal investigations relating to credit union matters
Regularly meeting with each team member to coach and mentor to ensure alignment around FFCU’s mission, vision, and values
Providing team members with training, tools, and resources to successfully perform their jobs
Holding teams accountable for meeting all service level agreements, ensuring the team’s work is accurate/efficient, and providing coaching, feedback, or training as needed
Providing and ensuring development opportunities are available for team members as part of their overall career path with the Credit Union
Leading change by identifying opportunities that consistently raise the bar and improve service levels
Assisting the Credit Union with executing the business plan of the organization
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certified Credit Union Internal Auditor or Certified Internal Auditor
Minimum 10 years' experience in internal audit or similar assurance-related roles in financial institute area
Experience reviewing new and amended regulations to make recommended changes to policies, processes, or tools
Experience supervising or managing employees or leading teams
Experience reviewing forms, contracts, disclosures, and related tools to ensure compliance
