Penn State University is seeking applications for Postdoctoral Researcher positions at the Center for Exoplanets and Habitable Worlds. Successful applicants will work with faculty on various projects related to planet surveys, technology improvement, and exoplanet characterization.
Higher Education
Responsibilities
Work with CEHW faculty on theoretical, observational, and/or instrumentation projects
Planning, execution, analysis and science for planet surveys
Improving technology, algorithms, and data analysis to mitigate stellar activity
Precursor science for the Habitable Worlds Observatory
Characterization of the atmospheres and surfaces of exoplanets using JWST
Search for extraterrestrial intelligence
Pushing forward instrumentation and techniques for precision spectroscopy and radial velocity
Contribute to a team of students and Ph.D. researchers
Pursue independent research
Contribute to the vibrant scientific and public outreach efforts of the department
Qualification
Required
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Planetary Science, Statistics, or a related field prior to the start date
