Fire Alarm Technician

GEM Technologies, Inc. is an award-winning federal contractor with over 30 years of experience. They are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility, including installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities

Provide fire alarm detection and alarm support to the Uranium Processing Facility
Install fire alarm systems, including wiring and setting up sensors, control panels, and other components according to blueprints and schematics
Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on existing systems to ensure they are in good working order
Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure the system is functioning correctly and meets all relevant fire and life safety codes and regulations, such as those from the NFPA
Diagnose and fix problems with alarms, detectors, control panels, and other equipment
Perform basic programming of electronic components for fire alarm systems
Complete detailed inspection reports, record all work performed, and maintain accurate logs of system activity
Provide system training, as needed, and communicate updates on service calls and issues
Respond to service calls for urgent repairs or malfunctions

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma and 6+ years of relevant experience
Must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
Must have a general knowledge of electrical wiring and circuitry
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Must be proficient in using various tools and equipment
Must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Must be physically able to work in various conditions

Preferred

Experience with DOE, DOD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects
