Lead Recreation Assistant (Outdoor Recreation) NF-03

USAJOBS is seeking a Lead Recreation Assistant for the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA). In this role, you will assist guests with activities such as camping and boating, and oversee the planning and execution of recreational programs and events.

Responsibilities

Serves as shift manager during absence of Recreation Specialist (Program Manager)
Assign work by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines and provides guidance to other staff. Assist in the planning/establishing of objectives and goals for the facility
Instruct customers in the proper use of equipment and programs within area of responsibility. Sets up recreational areas for on-site events
Helps plan, conduct, publicize, and arrange support for a variety of sponsored special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed
Must have or be able to obtain a current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification
If water rafting is part of the duties, satisfactory completion of required Raft Guide Training must be completed within three weeks of appointment
Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required
Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
A one-year probationary period may be required
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation

Preferred

At least one year of experience planning and executing recreation programs
Assists in development of budget, events and 5-year program plan
