Psychiatrist - Assoc. Chief of Staff Mental Health Service
The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) is seeking a Psychiatrist to serve as the Associate Chief of Staff of the Mental Health Service. This role involves overseeing clinical and administrative management, developing strategic plans, and ensuring compliance with Veterans Administration goals while providing mental health care services.

Responsibilities
Exercises exceptional latitude in the planning, design, implementation, accomplishment, ongoing evaluation, and measurement of program responsibilities and is responsible for clinical oversight and administrative management of the MHS
Responsible for developing strategic plans, policies, procedures, and organizational structures required to fulfill the service line's mission
The incumbent has final decision-making authority, responsibility and accountability on all issues affecting the MHS
Oversees and collaborates with clinical and administrative operations and program/section managers to ensure integrated goals and priorities for the MHS are established and met
Works closely with peers in other services and management to meet the needs of the System's recognized internal and external customer groups. The incumbent is responsible to ensure all residency, intern, and fellowship training program mandates are met in coordination with discipline service chiefs and program coordinators, internally and externally
Knowledgeable of overall VA, VHA, VISN, and CAVHS goals, missions, and priorities to assure a positive impact on programs and resources
The ACOS/MHS manages a large, diverse service that provides mental health care services central to the mission of CAVHS. Mental Health Service is one of the largest, most complex services within CAVHS, with more than 460 employees working in multiple locations across the State of Arkansas
The ACOS/MHS provides clinical and administrative oversight of multiple programs throughout the healthcare system and functions as the primary advisor to the Chief of Staff and Medical Center Director on all Mental Health programs
Qualification
Required
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred
Leadership or Supervisor experience of 5+ years; skilled collaborating with health care teams across other service/teams
