Supervisory Mission Support Specialist (Division Chief)
The U.S. Border Patrol, part of the Department of Homeland Security, is seeking a Supervisory Mission Support Specialist (Division Chief) to lead a team in the Mission Readiness Operations Division located in Pembroke Pines, FL. Responsibilities
Providing a full range of supervisory functions for a staff that provides a diverse range of mission support services
Developing overall operational plans, objectives, and strategies
Providing technical advice and leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating national programs within CBP and USBP's key support processes
Directing the implementation, review, and monitoring of subordinate program areas
Reviewing the results of the oversight activities and determining the significance and severity of problems and issues
Qualification
Required

Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years

Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 12/02/2025
Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as leading and directing the resolution, implementation and coordination of corrective actions, making decisions on problems presented by the staff, communicating performance requirements, evaluating work performance, and recommending recognition of employees, directing and overseeing the execution of budget, logistics, procurement, and quality assurance programs, rapidly adapting to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles

Background Investigation: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment
Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment
Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP eligible
