Secondary Science Teacher (26/27 School Year)

The Secondary Science Teacher will lead rigorous instruction in science, communicate with families about student progress, and maintain high academic expectations while fostering a positive classroom environment.

Education Management

Responsibilities

Lead rigorous instruction in science utilizing our curriculum
Deliver instructional materials that you have prepared based on our rigorous and aligned curriculum
Communicate and collaborate with families regarding the behavior and academic progress of their student
Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for students
Demonstrate a warm demander style with scholars in the classroom and school community
Approach class community building and repair with culturally responsive and restorative practices
Start your day by 7:30am (middle school teachers) or 8:10am (high school teachers) with a school team huddle and end at 3:30pm (middle school teachers) or 4:10pm (high school teachers) after scholar dismissal
Daily prep time and a duty-free lunch period
Weekly collaborative grade level team meeting
Regular 03 (one-on-one meeting and feedback session) with your coach or supervisor
Supervise and facilitate portions of Community Meeting (our school assembly) weekly on Friday
Attend IEP, SST, and 504 meetings as scheduled
Active participation in weekly professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics
Perform other duties to support our students and school community

Required

A Bachelor's degree
A current Single Subject Science or Multiple Subject teaching credential (internship, preliminary, or clear) or out of state equivalent required
English Learner authorization
A strong belief that all students can succeed

Preferred

Demonstrated experience and success working with students in low-income communities
