Responsibilities
Installs, adjusts, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical, direct digital controls, and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems
Conducts routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC/R equipment
Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation
Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment
Reads and interprets schematic drawings and diagrams that pertain to HVAC systems
Operates and maintains the facility's multiple boiler rooms & appurtenances in a safe & efficient manner
Acts as an escort for contracted vendors on HVAC or other general maintenance issues
Maintains records through the AIM maintenance management software and orders spare parts
Plumbing includes the unplugging of sinks, toilets, and drains, and repairing or replacing the defective parts associated with the above
General maintenance to include snow removal, material handling, cleaning up, and contractor assistance
Supervises inmate crews to perform preventive boiler maintenance and other HVAC and general maintenance tasks
Tool control of shop equipment
Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials
Be able to work on-call on a rotating basis to include occasional night and weekend hours
Ensures adherence to all WDOC policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist (if education and experience substitution is applied)
Agency may require an EPA License
Preferred
3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field
Ability to obtain an EPA License
