The Communications Intern will support the Communications Division of the Indiana Department of Transportation by assisting with social media, web content, and internal communications projects.

Assist with monthly social media content calendar
Develop social media campaigns and graphics
Create new web page layouts
Produce and analyze Google Analytics reports
Develop short videos
Internal Communications Projects
Event Coordination
Assist with writing and editing articles

Required

Working toward a bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations or related field
Basic knowledge of the mission and role of INDOT
Basic understanding of state policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Knowledge of state government structure, administrative procedures, and the legislative process
Ability to research, draft, and edit data and reports
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to handle multiple projects
Good research and writing skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a wide variety of contacts
Confidence and ability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing circumstances

Preferred

Relevant work experience preferred
Experience with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Experience with website CMS
Experience with video production
