Responsibilities

Assisting the CNO in the oversight, direction, and management of the Magnet Journey at Methodist
Accountability for the implementation of the Nursing Strategic Plan initiatives related to obtaining/maintaining Magnet Recognition
Ensuring the organization's milieu reflects the internalization of the five components of Magnet
Coordinating the ANCC Magnet application, designation, and redesignation process
Setting the tone and excitement for advancing nursing practice
Collaborating with interprofessional team members to oversee the daily operations of the NEPD department through supervision of personnel
Oversight of the development of effective educational activities
Ongoing nursing orientation efforts, and integration of externs and interns into the organization's culture
Coordinating and disseminating Nursing Strategic Plan initiatives related to obtaining Magnet Recognition
Coordinating the Nursing Leadership Retreat to identify annual goals and evaluate prior year performance
Overseeing and coordinating implementation of the Clinical Ladder program to ensure compliance with criteria, in a system model
Leading the development of a system annual nursing report, with responsibility for creating the annual nursing report
Following the Timeline for the Magnet Journey with anticipated achievement
Conducting a Gap Analysis and coordinating the assessment and analysis
Coordinating the Design and Implementation of a Shared Governance Model
Developing a Structured Model to allow for nursing involvement in committees and task forces to improve patient care and operations
Supporting Nursing Involvement in the community
Leading and coordinating the review of certification reimbursement and participation
Assisting in the development of the annual goals for nursing participation in advancing degrees, certifications and attendance at regional, national and international conferences
Initiating and participating in the development of policies, procedures, and protocols related to patient care and standards of nursing practice for hospital services, programs, and patients
Coordinating the development of a system-wide Professional Practice Model
Participating in the development of a patient care delivery model that defines how care is delivered, the skills required, the context of care and expected outcomes
Annually reviewing resources available to staff nurses to access policies, procedures and research
Assisting with the evaluation of nursing workplace safety initiatives
Assisting the Nursing Researcher in the development of a system structure for nursing research
Ensuring the effective implementation of a nursing research and participation of nurses
Developing annual targets for nursing involvement in nursing research in collaboration with system nursing leadership
Coordinating with NEPD in the education of all nurses on evidence-based practice and research
Developing and implementing the Nursing Communication for the MHS Intranet
Distributing nurse sensitive outcomes to staff
Ensuring outcomes are progressing to the level of Magnet recognition
Carrying out other duties as assigned within scope and appropriate practice parameters

Required

Masters in Nursing or other Health-related program required
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
Specialty Certification required within 12 months of hire
At least five (5) years or more of progressive Nursing Leadership experience required
