TITLE 32 ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR (MI SMO MATES)
USAJOBS is seeking a TITLE 32 ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR for the Michigan Army National Guard. The role involves inspecting and ensuring the repair of electronics equipment, utilizing various inspection techniques and test equipment to maintain operational standards.

Responsibilities
Inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications
Use a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems
Conduct inspections, diagnose nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, perform required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc
Use various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components
Inspect equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required
Utilize established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s)
Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical
Recommend to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL
Prepare lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized
Perform in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements
Perform final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or reject the work and return the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs
Inspect the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility
Serve as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT)

Required
ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Michigan Army National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
Applicants who are not currently a member of the Michigan Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a trial period
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
Must have a valid civilian driver's license
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position
Position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position

Military Grades: E5-CW3
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG (WU in Puerto Rico only)-09 and above - Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment
Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems
Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment
Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc
Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications
No substitution of education allowed for this position
