Criminal Defense Associate Attorney
Marcilliat & Mills PLLC is a fast-paced, highly reputable criminal defense firm seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join their growing team in uptown Charlotte. The ideal candidate will manage a busy caseload of felony cases and provide support to senior attorneys on high-level cases.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Independently handle felony caseload and supervise assigned paralegal to ensure outstanding client service
Assist managing partners with supervision and training of entry-level associate attorney
Maintain meticulous file notes in case management system (CLIO) and provide frequent updates to supervising attorneys
Represent clients in District and Superior Court sessions as directed; travel to various counties required
Qualification
Required
Graduate of an ABA accredited law school
Active license to practice law in North Carolina, and a minimum of two years of experience handling criminal cases in District and Superior Court in North Carolina
Proficient in Office 365
Positive attitude with the ability to work with a team, as well as independently
Preferred
Genuine willingness to work on some of the most challenging and complex criminal cases in North Carolina state and federal courts, including sex crimes, domestic violence cases, drug trafficking offenses, homicides, and financial/white-collar crimes
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
Those with prior experience as Assistant Public Defenders or Assistant District Attorneys are encouraged to apply
First or Second Chair trial experience in criminal cases in District and/or Superior Court
