Paralegal Supervisor - County Attorney - Criminal Division
Pima County is seeking a Paralegal Supervisor in the Criminal Division. This role involves supervising paralegals and support staff, performing paraprofessional legal work, and managing casework and schedules. The supervisor will also provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring efficient operations within the division.

Responsibilities
Performs paralegal duties and responsibilities, as found in the Paralegal and Paralegal Trainer classification descriptions
Leads trial teams
Supervises legal support staff, Paralegals and Paralegal Trainers
Plans, assigns and reviews caseloads and workloads
Provides unit/division orientation for new legal support staff employees, and acts as a resource/mentor role
Provides training to paralegals, legal support staff and new hire attorneys on staff roles, department protocol, and internal processes
Creates, manages and oversees employees work schedules and payroll duties in the timekeeping system
Manages and oversees both the Attorneys and Unit calendars, in anticipation of trial/case needs
Participates in personnel selection, staff evaluations, and other personnel issues and disciplinary actions as needed
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree from an accredited college in a field such as paralegal, legal assistant, law, business, criminal justice, political science, interdisciplinary studies, regional development, communications, OR a certificate of completion in paralegal or legal assistant studies from an American Bar Association (ABA) approved program at an accredited college or university or a closely related field as defined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND three years of experience as a paralegal in a public/local government law office
Two years with Pima County in a Paralegal Trainer position
Valid driver license is required at time of application
Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment
The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures
Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination
Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record
The County requires pre-employment background checks
Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history
Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems
