Therapeutic Programs Coordinator - Juvenile Probation

Responsibilities
Oversees the daily operations and scheduling of the facility, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of both staff and detained juveniles
Manages the facility’s behavior management system and monitors and coordinates behavioral health services for residents
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all state-mandated standards, regulations, and policies
Serves as the Acting Facility Administrator in the absence of the Facility Administrator
Provides supervision to the Shift Supervisors assigned to the Post-Adjudication facility and the Counselor Supervisor
Assumes the duties of the Facility Administrator in the absence of the Deputy Director of Behavioral Health
Assigns, directs, and supervises facility staff; prepares program schedules and assignments as necessary; ensures all work complies with established policies and procedures
Coordinates schedule to maximize time available for conducting required treatment
Provides guidance and oversight to Shift Supervisors and Juvenile Supervision Officers in the management of behavioral incidents, the use of de-escalation techniques, and appropriate crisis response strategies
Monitors the case workers to ensure that case management duties, including case plans, behavior screenings, and monthly level reviews—are completed accurately and effectively and in accordance with timelines specified by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD)
Monitors the Counselor Supervisor, staff counselors, contract counselors, and interns to ensure the effective delivery of individual, family, and group counseling sessions, assessments, and treatment planning for juveniles and their families in both the Post-Adjudication program and Detention
Monitors crisis and on-call counseling services to ensure compliance with facility standards and adherence to best practices
Reviews admission applications submitted by Denton County Juvenile Probation and juvenile probation departments in other counties across Texas to determine eligibility for admission, suitability for treatment in the Post-Adjudication program
Coordinates with juvenile probation personnel and other behavioral health professionals to ensure the behavioral health needs of detained juveniles are being met
Maintains and oversees documentation required by TJJD regarding the suicidal behavior log, the Post-Adjudication program, volunteers, interns, and contract counselors. Also, participates in the annual review of the suicide prevention plan
Participates in and oversees weekly staffings, placement reviews, disciplinary staffings, behavior management meetings, and level reviews for Post-Adjudication residents
Oversees and participates in developing programming for the Pre-Adjudication and Post-Adjudication programs
Oversees or provides training for Juvenile Probation Officers, Juvenile Supervision Officers, counselors, caseworkers, and interns
Manages the structured behavior management system used within the Post-Adjudication program to promote accountability and safety
Regular and punctual attendance is required
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, counseling, or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, counseling, or a related field with a minimum of five years of relevant experience
Relevant experience includes working with at-risk youth, especially in juvenile justice, residential treatment, or behavioral health settings
Candidates should have several years of supporting youth with complex needs, along with experience in staff supervision or program management, behavioral health services, and implementing behavior management strategies
A strong understanding of behavior management practices, trauma-informed care, and juvenile justice system operations is essential
Certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer and Juvenile Supervision Officer by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department within six (6) months of initial employment is required
Possession of a valid driver's license
Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days
Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check
Be at least 21 years of age
Have no disqualifying criminal history as described in the TAC
Never have had any type of certification revoked by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department
Complete the training required by the TAC
Pass the certification exam as required by §344.700 of the TAC or any successor statute
