Emergency Services Technician

Responsibilities
Respond to all potential emergency incidents and all fire, hazmat, medical and evacuation alarms at Sullivan Park and other Corning Incorporated facilities
Make decisions for evacuation of employees and others as necessary. Function as sector/tactical team leader during emergency responses and act as Incident Commander in absence of Emergency Services Supervisor
Ability to apply knowledge in use of NYS Fire Code, NFPA Life Safety Code, OSHA regulations, sprinkler systems and fire suppression systems
Assist Emergency Services Supervisor
Respond to off hours emergencies
Rotating or fixed shift work may be required
Represent Emergency Services in internal and external meetings
Develop and conduct training sessions for ERT volunteers
Develop Emergency Response Preplans for high hazard areas at Sullivan Park
Assist efforts to continually update and implement emergency plans for overall Sullivan Park complex
Maintain and calibrate ERT equipment- AED's, gas detection equipment, SCBA's, hazmat equipment, etc
Attend building design and modification meetings and make recommendations related to fire, hazardous materials, alarms and emergency response issues
Maintain an awareness of outside agencies for emergency assistance and training resources
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Fire Science or related field
OR 5+ years paid Emergency Services experience with demonstrated progression of rank and/or responsibility
OR 10+ years continuous volunteer Emergency Services experience with demonstrated progression of rank and/or responsibility
Must have a valid Drivers License
HazMat Technician
NFPA Firefighter I or equivalent
Fire Officer Training – Fire Officer I
ICS / NIMS Training – ICS 700, 100, 200
NYS Certified First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician
Basic MS Office skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point. MS Outlook w/ scheduling capability)
Preferred
Specialized Rescue Training (Extrication, Confined Space, Rope, etc.) – Rescue Tech Basic
Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC) training preferred
Fire Service Instructor Training – Fire Instructor I
Fire Officer Training – Fire Officer II
Incident Command experience – ICS 300
Building Code or Fire Inspection training – NYS Code Compliance Technician or NYS Code Enforcement Officer
