Pharmacy Supervisor (Inventory and Procurement Program)
The VA Boston Healthcare System is seeking a Pharmacy Supervisor for their Inventory and Procurement Program. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of pharmacy inventory and procurement, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize inventory practices.

Responsibilities
Oversight of all pharmacy drug and supply purchases, management of service-wide reverse distribution, execution of all supply chain requirements such as recalls, and management of the All-Hazard Emergency Cache (AHEC) program
Provides oversight of all shelf-stock plus automation inventory including automated dispensing cabinets, Carousel, ScriptPro robots, and packagers at all campuses
Maintains stock to ensure supply meets patient care demands while optimizing cost containment and minimizing waste
Oversees inventory and purchasing in a manner that supports budgetary constraints and meets or exceeds the required inventory turns
Works closely with the Chief of Pharmacy on the annual drug budget
Provides guidance and supervision of procurement and supply technicians and ensures personnel meet minimum competency standards and essential functions of the job as assigned
Ensures each member of the procurement team executes timely reconciliation of purchase card and prime vendor purchases by due dates per VHA regulations
Possesses a working knowledge of the Electronic Health Record including CPRS, VISTA and software commonly used by all pharmacy personnel, plus specific knowledge related to Prime Vendor electronic platforms and software
Works closely with other services including logistics, fiscal, contracting, environmental management, primary care, medicine, and various specialty areas
Handles multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to reprioritize tasks based on the fluctuating needs of the organization and system impacts such as patient care demands, drug or supply chain shortages, back-orders, recalls, and budgetary constraints
Manages work assignments that will often be broad requiring an interdisciplinary approach plus multiple campus coordination
Utilizes unique and innovative approaches to solve specific problems and is required to perform a variety of duties, broad range of activities, meet critical deadlines and provide a depth of analysis with minimal supervision
Possesses knowledge, skill, and flexibility to be assigned interchangeably with the supervisors or pharmacists of the other sections of the Pharmacy Service for training or other purposes, as required
Reports directly to the Chief of Pharmacy and must work collaboratively with Pharmacy Supervisors, Associate Chiefs and other key medical center stakeholders to ensure compliance and integrity of inventory practices across all sites
Serves on local committees as assigned
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizen
Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs must provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification
Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia
Proficient in spoken and written English
Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
Must complete an online onboarding process
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators while on duty
Must be physically capable of operating various types of equipment used for the job
