Boston University is seeking a Senior Producer/Editor for its award-winning External Affairs division. This role involves producing high-quality video content rooted in storytelling, working on complex productions, and engaging with executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Regularly producing high-quality, high visibility, engaging video content firmly rooted in solid storytelling
Working on high-level, complex productions and interacting with executive-level leadership
Pitching story ideas that highlight notable stories and accomplishments among the University's students, staff, faculty, and alumni
Focusing on story-first, character-first, documentary-style storytelling and research-based stories
Executing high-level video work regarding messaging and/or explanation of complex concepts
Navigating a variety of interview subjects with appropriate tone, composure, diplomacy, and discretion

Qualification

Required

Typically requires a bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of related experience
Or a Master's degree with 3-5 years of related work experience
Demonstrate progressively responsible experience in a professional video editing/producing environment
Advanced editing experience with non-linear systems such as Avid is required
Must be able to deliver the best solution to find an approach to tell a story
Be able to develop solutions for technical issues and optimize and improve best practices, workflow, and processes in production and post-production
Remain current on the developments and applications of state-of-the-art video production technology
The Senior Producer/Editor is expected to be self-motivated, extremely detail-oriented, and always searching for the next story
The incumbent must have exceptional communication skills, the ability to put subjects at ease, and provide advanced creative direction

Preferred

A background in documentary-style video production is strongly preferred
An interviewing style that returns a compelling, naturalistic narrative
An ability as a shooter to craft footage that generates cinematic and comprehensively covered scene work, often mostly handheld
An Avid-based post-production skillset to package everything into a complete story and overall package, including the ability to apply color correction and sound mix to the finishes
