Pharmacy Research Technician 3 - Investigational Drug Services
The Ohio State University is seeking a Pharmacy Research Technician 3 to assist in managing investigational products and providing technical direction in clinical trials. Responsibilities
Manage investigational product (IP) and provide technical direction and assistance with clinical trial protocols
Prepare or compound study medications for dispensing to patients
Coordinate and deliver IP to pharmacies, infusion rooms, and clinics throughout the health system
Assist in compliance with The Joint Commission’s (TJC) medication management standards, as well as FDA, GCP, USP 795, USP 797, USP 800, Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, and other regulatory bodies
Maintain IP accountability via an electronic drug accountability system
Maintain appropriate levels of IP based on anticipated accrual and dispensing needs of patients enrolled in clinical trials
Participate in continuing educational opportunities to meet annual competency requirements
Complete research required trainings and participate in continual training opportunities to develop ongoing skills in other areas of pharmacy practice
Assist the licensed pharmacist in providing patient care services to patients enrolled in clinical trials
Provide necessary services and information to research, pharmacy, nursing and medical staff
Prepare and package medications; distribute medications, supplies and equipment; maintain proper inventory levels; ensure medications are in date, secure, and stored appropriately
Keep appropriate records and documentation and submit billing charges to the appropriate research finance groups
Support initiatives of area supervisors and managers
Assist with sponsor site visits and associated documentation
Qualification
Required
High school diploma
Two years of relevant health care experience
Strong science background
Knowledge of the metric system
Good math skills
Strong communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Current PTCB certification upon hire
Maintains up to date CITI and GCP training
Demonstrates competence in daily functions
Interpersonal and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions
Competent using the various systems involved with clinical trials and pharmacy functions
Attend medical center and departmental in-services, educational forums, and meetings as required
Preferred
Familiarity with pharmacy terminology
Medication names
Aseptic technique
