Internship Opportunities - Summer 2026 - Private Counsel Division & Specialty Units - Statewide
The Committee for Public Counsel Services is seeking interns for Summer 2026 across various units focused on legal advocacy and human rights. Interns will engage in legal research, assist with case preparation, and collaborate with attorneys to support clients facing legal challenges.

Responsibilities
Assist with legal research and writing
Observe court trials
Visit incarcerated clients
Review psychological and scientific studies
Assist with case preparation and litigation support
Screen cases for access to counsel
Draft trial and appellate court filings
Collaborate with experienced lawyers on litigation
Research and write advisory memoranda
Help with editing briefs
Review cases for inclusion in databases
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated commitment to the principle of zealous advocacy, community-oriented defense, and the protection of fundamental constitutional and human rights
Access to reliable transportation in order to travel to courts, clients, and investigation locations that are not easily accessible by public transportation
Access to a personal computer with home internet access sufficient to work remotely
Benefits
CPCS has a limited number of paid internship opportunities for Summer 2026.
CPCS can work with students to support the receipt of externship credit or outside funding.
