ILUS - Lead Automation Technician

The Lead Automation Technician will take on a leadership role in troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of material handling systems while developing training programs and driving standardization initiatives.

Responsibilities
Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair mechanical problems
Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings
Create and review Standard Operating Procedure SOP documents
Follows and guides small preventive maintenance programs
Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis
Lead training programs for Automation Technicians I and II
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technology integration
Conduct audits and inspections for compliance and quality assurance
Analyze performance data and identify process optimization opportunities
Conducts advanced Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control-level issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI
Leads change management process and develops complex PLC ladder code changes using Rockwell RSLogix family IDE’s (5000 preferred)
Utilizes AutoCAD proficiently for reviewing, developing, and maintaining electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings
Documents and communicates control system and equipment configuration changes
Completes advanced safety training and ensures compliance with safety programs, policies, and procedures
On-call availability as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 6 years of extensive experience in Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control-level issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI
At least 6 years of experience with AutoCAD for control layout design and schematics
Proven track record of training others and developing comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for complex tasks
4-5 years working in material handling industry or equivalent industry experience
Advanced experience with CMMS platform and PLC's, with basic Software knowledge
Working knowledge of handheld and power tools
Advanced knowledge of PLCs and motor control
Advanced ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls defects
Advanced ability to interpret both mechanical and electric drawings and schematics
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot all material handling equipment and components
Self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
Knowledge of safe industrial work practices
Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
Preferred
2-year professional electrical training degree
bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
