Drainage Engineer

Parsons Corporation is seeking motivated Midlevel Drainage Engineers to join their team. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of drainage systems for transportation and infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced engineers and project managers.

Responsibilities

Provide design and analysis of drainage systems, including stormwater management, culverts, and erosion control measures
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, Civil 3D)
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction drawings
Collaborate with lead multidisciplinary teams to integrate drainage designs into larger transportation and infrastructure projects
Mentor junior drainage engineers, technicians and designers
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and stormwater management standards
Support project managers in coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and support construction activities as needed
Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in drainage engineering

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
3-7 years of experience in drainage engineering or related areas
Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, Civil 3D)
Detailed knowledge of stormwater management principles and environmental regulations
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months

Preferred

Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD
Familiarity with local drainage design standards in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC
Passion for sustainable and innovative engineering solutions
