Marine Machinery Mechanic (Crane Op)
The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking a Marine Machinery Mechanic (Crane Op) to support its Industrial Production Facility in Galveston, Texas. The role involves operating and maintaining machinery, performing major overhauls and repairs on mechanical equipment aboard Coast Guard vessels and stations.

Responsibilities
Removing machinery from boats, ships, or stations for repairs or modifications
Disassembling and repairing and testing machinery such as marine diesel engines, both mobile and stationary
Disassembling all components of engines such as cylinder heads, fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, blowers, and turbo chargers
Installing and repairing weight handling machinery, hydraulic systems and components, anchor windlasses, boat davits, cranes and other deck machinery both ship and ashore
Installs, adjusts, sets, repairs, and replaces engine controls, governors, unloaders, safety valves, steering gear and rudders
Operates and maintains 150-ton marine travel lift, 15-30-ton crane in support of 87' WPB and 45' RBM drydocks and boom lift in support of repairs aloft repairs and maintenance for ships and ashore infrastructure
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
A one-year probationary period may be required

Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN-OUT)
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
Ability to Use and Maintain general mechanics tools and various tools, equipment, and measuring devices
Knowledge of Materials
Troubleshooting and repair of both shipboard and material handling engines and equipment
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the U.S
Applicants must provide an official college transcript
If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript (unofficial is acceptable) from an accredited institution
