Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain custom backend solutions for Jira using Java, REST APIs, and Atlassian SDK
Develop and maintain Jira plugins and integrations with other enterprise systems (e.g., Confluence, ServiceNow, GitHub, Jenkins)
Automate Jira workflows, permissions, and configurations to support evolving business needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable backend solutions
Monitor and optimize Jira performance, scalability, and reliability
Ensure data integrity and security across Jira instances and integrations
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Jira-related backend issues
Stay current with Atlassian product updates and best practices

Required

Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain additional security requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of experience in backend development, ideally with exposure to Jira engineering
Proficiency in Java and experience with Atlassian SDK and Jira REST APIs
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Groovy, Python, Shell) for automation
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps tools
Understand Jira architecture, workflows, permissions, and custom fields
Experience with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
DOD 8140 (IAT Level II) Minimum Requirement - Security+ CE
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have proficient Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
Must be able to work in a team environment cordially and effectively, as well as having the ability to lead a team if required
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate respectfully, cordially and freely with people (customers, employees and vendors inclusive)
Must be able to motivate other employees when needed
Must exhibit a high level of flexibility and an ability to multi-task
Must be able to work with little or no supervision
Must possess good reasoning and problem-solving abilities
Must have the ability to work as a ‘link person' or middle person amongst customers, employees, and vendors
Must have excellent time management ability to successfully manage orders and schedules
Enrolled in CE with a SF86 in the last 12 months
TS/SCI security clearance required, candidate will not be considered without TS/SCI

Preferred

MS / MA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Program Management, or other related disciplines
CISM, CISSP or relevant IT certification
