Responsibilities

Investigate and respond to technical questions related to environmental compliance, fire codes, and engineering specifications
Locate and interpret drawings, codes, exemptions, and regulatory language to support project decisions
Review reports and plans (e.g., design recommendation packages, contractor requirements packages, permit application pages, state plans, SPCC plans) for accuracy in asset identification and code application
Communicate directly with regulators to clarify and discuss compliance matters
Communicate directly with client, project managers and junior staff on project details

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering, or related degree required
Professional Engineer (PE) license (PE registration in any state, registration in multiple states or in CA a plus)
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
Working knowledge of National fire codes (IFC, NFPA1, NFPA30)
Working knowledge of Federal UST regulations (40 CFR 280)
Working knowledge of SPCC regulations (40 CFR 112)
Working knowledge of ASME boiler and pressure vessel code basics
Working knowledge of Federal air regulations (NSPS, NESHAP)
Working knowledge of Wastewater & stormwater regulations (NPDES)
Working knowledge of Used oil regulations (40 CFR 279)
Working knowledge of Project prototype tank setups (aboveground and underground)
Ability to translate complex regulatory language into clear, layperson-friendly summaries
Critical thinking to identify follow-up questions and explore deeper implications
Confidence in engaging with regulators and stakeholders to resolve technical issues
