Without Compensation Vascular Surgeon
The San Francisco VA Medical Center is seeking a Without Compensation Vascular Surgeon to join their Surgical Service team. This role aims to promote Veteran-centered care and enhance patient experiences by providing high-quality surgical care at minimal financial burden to Veterans.

Responsibilities
Percutaneous diagnostic angiography and venography
Endovascular therapy including transluminal angioplasty, placement of stents and stent grafts, pharmacomechanical thrombectomy and placement of thrombolysis catheters
Endovascular aortic aneurysm and acute aortic dissection repair
Open arterial embolectomy, endarterectomy, direct repair and bypass surgery
Open aneurysm repair
Carotid angioplasty and stent
Wound incision and drainage, fasciotomy and limb or digit amputation
Surgical ICU- Routine Post-Op, Care within board specialty area includes all routine post-op care including: pain management, fluid and electrolyte administration, wound care, drains, bronchodilator & other respiratory therapy medications
Nutritional support including central venous access and TPN and enteral nutrition includes: Current competence placement of central lines and the indications for and administration of TPN and enteral feedings
Hemodynamic monitoring & resuscitation includes: placement and use of central venous lines, arterial lines, and/or pulmonary artery catheters. Resuscitation with fluids, blood and vasoactive/isotropic medications. Must have current competence in placement and use of central-arterial lines and the management of patients in shock
Management of single multiple organ system failure includes: Experience in managing critically ill patients with one or several organs involved. This includes coordinating the management of the patient with the use of specialty consulting teams
Ventilator management includes: Current Competence in the use of ventilators in critically ill patients, including criteria for extubation, weaning protocols, etc
Other duties as assigned

Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Must be proficient in written and spoken English

Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements
Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required
