Telecommunications Engineering Technician

They are seeking a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to support the FAA’s Legacy Infrastructure to Future Technologies (LIFT) Portfolio, working on the transition from TDM to IP connectivity in the National Airspace System.

Responsibilities

Review FAA data bases and provide input and or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR)
Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports
Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel
Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP)
Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts
Draft project plans for site preparation activities
Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic and Operations personnel
Develop transition plans
Resolve schedule conflicts
Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities
Work with LECs on schedules
Develop briefings/information/reports on District status
Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc
Support District POC and SSCs with day-to-day work activities
Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP)

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree. Additional experience may be substituted/considered/accepted in lieu of degree
Ability to travel up to 75%
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years
Proficiency in MS Office Suites

Preferred

2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting
Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools
Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Assoc (NFPA) standards, National Airspace System Equipment Tower
Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards
Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG
