Responsibilities
Investigates electronic hardware problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members
Applies and supports the improvement of electronic hardware development processes and tools
Processes include, basic problem solving techniques, familiarity with hardware development process, and requirements analysis
Applies knowledge of design methods such as worst case analysis, circuit simulation, DFMEA/PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), schematic capture, Specification Compliance Matrix (or equivalent)
Obtains input and collaborates with electronic suppliers and delivers prototype hardware to application engineering teams
Makes decisions in the areas of hardware requirements, validation test that impact unit cost, functionality, and prototype delivery
Owns problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services with technical complexity and ambiguity increasing as experience is gained in the role
Provides independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes
Involves no direct management of people, but could involve the coordination and direction of work amongst technicians and/or temporary student employees
Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role
Qualification
Required
Entry level/early career professional
Experience in creating and integrating electrical and electronic hardware
Ability to develop and validate electronic sensors, actuators, control units, harnesses, wiring practices, or control systems
Understanding of analog and digital signals
Ability to investigate electronic hardware problems and recommend appropriate actions
Familiarity with hardware development processes and requirements analysis
Knowledge of design methods such as worst case analysis, circuit simulation, DFMEA/PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), schematic capture, Specification Compliance Matrix (or equivalent)
Ability to collaborate with electronic suppliers
Decision-making skills in hardware requirements and validation tests
Problem resolution skills for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services
Independent execution of established work processes and systems
Ability to engage with the improvement of systems and processes
Ability to contribute effectively toward team goals
Exhibit influence within a work group
Continues to develop proficiency in competency areas critical to success in the role
