Responsibilities
Architect, deploy & manage AWS RDS (MySQL/Aurora) databases
Optimize performance & queries, plan capacity, and automate workflows
Lead data migrations, schema upgrades & ETL initiatives
Implement HA/DR, backups, and security best practices (IAM, encryption)
Troubleshoot complex database issues with minimal oversight
Build automation tools (Lambda, scripting, DevOps pipelines)
Support reporting platforms and integration of new features
Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD
Participate in Tier 2/3 on-call rotations
Create document procedures & drive process improvements
Work autonomously with respect to the database portion of things
Execute the data migration strategy
Create the entire migration plan, work with infra/app teams, and be the leader on that particular part of the project
Specify database infrastructure needs and work with infra to create Terraform and target systems
Be the SME responsible for bringing the system into production, ensuring security, passwords, encryption, etc
Qualification
Required
Degree in CS, Computer Engineering, or related
10+ years minimum of cloud DB experience
Strong expertise in: MySQL, AWS RDS (MySQL & Aurora), Terraform or similar IaC, CI/CD & DevOps tools
Experience with HA/DR, CloudWatch, AWS Backup, Lambda, SQL scripting
Excellent problem-solving, communication & collaboration skills
Experience on the migration side
Work autonomously with respect to the database portion of things
