Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive system administration, configuration, and maintenance for servers, endpoints, and operating systems, including Windows, Linux, UNIX, macOS, Android, and iOS
Configure, patch, and upgrade operating systems, applications, and associated hardware to maintain optimal performance and ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements
Perform database tuning, monitoring, and security, along with upgrades and software installations, to ensure reliability, scalability, and data integrity
Migrate existing databases and applications across different hardware platforms and operating systems, ensuring minimal downtime and full data preservation
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to safeguard information systems and enforce least-privilege principles
Conduct system performance monitoring, diagnostics, and capacity planning to ensure availability and responsiveness of critical systems
Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and continuity of operations (COOP) procedures to protect mission-critical data and systems
Support installation, configuration, and administration of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-hosted systems
Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to apply DISA STIGs, perform vulnerability scans, and remediate findings per RMF and DoD security directives
Ensure full compliance with DoD/Navy accreditation and authorization (A&A) standards and policies
Monitor system logs, alerts, and performance metrics; identify issues and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence
Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for system outages, application failures, and network connectivity issues
Prepare and maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, SOPs, and change control records in approved ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy)
Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) and Configuration Management (CM) meetings to plan and coordinate upgrades, patches, and technical changes
Assist in integration of new technologies, digital modernization efforts, and infrastructure automation initiatives
Oversee hardware lifecycle management, including server refresh, decommissioning, and component replacement planning
Provide training and mentoring to junior administrators and technical staff to promote knowledge transfer and operational consistency

Required

Six (6) years of professional experience in Unix and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems
Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and COTS software; operating computer systems in different operating environments; and sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting, and resource allocation
Qualified experience in different network protocols, including TCP/IP, and major network security tools such as firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attack methods, and latest detection methods
Proficiency with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP), system security tools, and scripting languages is often required
Must hold a Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems
Must have Information Assurance Technical Level III certification
Must hold an active Top Secret clearance
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
