Internship - Multi-Fidelity Dynamic Models for Energy Systems
Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) is seeking a motivated graduate student for an internship focused on developing multi-fidelity dynamic simulation methods for energy systems. The role involves hands-on numerical simulation experience and requires strong programming skills along with a solid understanding of thermofluids.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Responsibilities
Develop multi-fidelity dynamic simulation methods for energy systems (e.g., vapor-compression/HVAC cycles and related multiphysics platforms)
Utilize hands-on time-domain numerical simulation experience (ODE/DAE integration, implicit/iterative solvers, sparse linear algebra)
Apply familiarity with model reduction or surrogate modeling
Demonstrate solid thermofluids literacy (thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics)
Exhibit strong programming skills in Python/Julia/Matlab
Engage in system identification and/or numerical optimization for dynamical systems
Utilize equation-oriented tools (Modelica or Simscape) as desirable
