Pipeline Engineer - Transmission & Distribution (CAL)

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Pipeline Engineer to work on project teams for pipeline and facility projects in the natural gas and renewable industries. The role involves creating designs, modifying production drawings, and applying engineering principles throughout the design and construction process.

Responsibilities

Perform pipeline engineering and support design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion
Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: transmission & distribution pipelines projects
Design pipeline components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers
Apply strong knowledge of commonly used pipeline engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes and procedures within the pipeline engineering services industry
Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers
Compile studies and reports
Write specifications
Assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable
Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software
Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review and contract administration for the design of pipeline projects including transmission & distribution pipelines
Field assignment will be possible
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
3 years to 5 years of pipeline engineering experience, consulting
Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience
Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, Equipment Sizing Programs
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills

Preferred

Successful completion (i.e. passing) FE or EIT preferred
