Responsibilities

Research legal issues; draft legal memos, opinions, and issue papers

Provide legal advice and counsel to MoDOT staff on various legal issues, including issues of eminent domain, general liability, risk management and "dangerous condition" of public property claims, and HR related matters

Prepare, review, and examine routine contracts, land title commitments, and conveyances of real estate for proper description and execution

Prepare routine pleadings, motions, and briefs and may assist as second chair in circuit court or federal district court; assist in the preparation of briefs and motions in appellate courts; and the like

Assist in representing the MHTC in informal or contested case administrative hearings
