Process Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead and support cross-functional project teams to develop new products and processes that solve customer problems and create intellectual property
Design, modify, and optimize equipment and continuous manufacturing processes, including specification creation, implementation, and commissioning
Conduct research and experimentation to test hypotheses, enhance process understanding, and deliver inventive solutions
Collaborate with development technicians to execute experiments, collect and interpret data, and document results in technical reports and presentations
Evaluate manufacturability of proposed solutions and support initial implementation in global manufacturing sites (US, Germany, Poland, Mexico)
Interface with suppliers to resolve material issues and stay informed on new material developments
Perform risk assessments related to equipment, processes, environmental impact, and product reliability
Maintain strong interaction with global process development personnel and support product cost reduction initiatives

Required

Engineering Bachelor's Degree
Proven ability to execute project assignments in a team-based environment
Strong foundation in engineering principles, particularly in extrusion and continuous manufacturing
Experience with tooling, equipment design, and process optimization
Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities

Preferred

Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering degree
Experience in fiber optic cable processes
Familiarity with polymer extrusion (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, PBT)
Knowledge of mechanical design and/or PLC programming
Exposure to CAD tools and 3D modeling software (e.g., Inventor, Creo, KeyShot)
