Responsibilities

Identify customer needs and pain points through direct customer interaction and by analyzing market and system analytic trends to inform priorities
Develop and execute a long-term vision (generation planning) for the product that drives incremental customer and brand value
Define product and customer experience requirements across IoT devices, firmware, and cloud software
Prioritize features and technical debt in alignment with product strategy and customer value
Drive the end-to-end IoT product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to commercial launch and ongoing improvement
Collaborate closely with engineering, QA, and UX to ensure on-time delivery of roadmap initiatives
Identify opportunities to increase velocity with cross-functional teams and speed-to-commercialization
Partner with UI/UX and front-end engineering teams to define intuitive user workflows and device interaction models
Review wireframes and application interfaces to ensure seamless IoT device-to-cloud experiences
Oversee product readiness by reviewing builds and participating in engineering reviews
Partner with software and firmware teams to manage prioritization of bugs in the triage process, and drive root-cause resolution in partnership with software and firmware teams
In collaboration with the Technical Support team, participate in cross-functional rapid responses to high-severity issues impacting device connectivity, data integrity, or user experience
Provide monthly updates on platform roadmap, program health, risks, and mitigation strategies to leadership and stakeholders
Communicate complex technical topics in business-friendly language to business stakeholders and customers
Collaborate with inter-company leaders to identify new product and integration opportunities
Identify new opportunities for product growth — such as new IoT integrations, partnerships, data-driven features, or cross-product capabilities
Evaluate emerging technologies to advance platform capabilities

Required

Exceptional communication, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated success in scaling IoT platforms for residential, commercial or enterprise customers
Strong understanding of IoT architecture — device connectivity, edge computing, APIs, and cloud services
Knowledge of embedded systems, BLE/Wi-Fi connectivity, and device provisioning processes
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native software deployment
Understanding of data security, OTA (over-the-air) firmware updates, and telemetry analytics
Must reside in or near one of the following cities: New Haven, CT, Berlin, CT, Charlotte, NC, Portland, OR
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 15%) and meet the requirements of customers
Must have a valid driver's license
Your background includes a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 8 years's experience in product or platform management
At least 3 years' experience in IoT product ecosystems preferred
Experience in the residential or commercial access control industry is a must
Proven track record managing cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, and software) in complex product development environments
Experience with agile/scrum methodologies and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha, Azure DevOps) is strongly preferred

Master's degree preferred
Experience with AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT platforms is preferred
