Director of Risk and Claims

Responsibilities
Assists executive team in determining the company’s risk appetite and ensuring it matches the overall business strategy
Leads efforts to analyze, quantify, and communicate enterprise-level risks to senior leadership
Leads the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise risk dashboards to monitor risk
Initiates and completes enterprise risk register. Works with sponsoring executives on mitigation strategies and formally documents each of the top risks noted during the assessment
Partners with senior leadership to integrate enterprise risk analytics into business operations throughout the company
Creates a framework of risk management policies and procedures
Supports corporate development activities such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures by providing advisory and insurance procurement services as needed
Actively participates on the board of the company’s risk retention group. Monitors and adjusts the investment strategy to achieve desired returns
Speaks at various functions for team members to provide insight into the risk management function
Educates, advises, and counsels team members on risks to help reduce, prevent, transfer, or insure against risks
Oversees day-to-day insurance operations to include explanation and interpretation of coverage and policy terms to internal and external audiences, provision of coverage summaries and certificates to clients, timely submission and processing of claims, claims management, and support of insurance-related needs that arise in the business
Maintains the ergonomic program for the company and relationship with an ergonomic vendor
Acts as knowledge expert on outsourced incident reporting system. Ensures reporting packages are delivered to interested parties on a timely basis
Reviews contract language as necessary
May require other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business related required
Minimum of 10+ years of corporate risk management experience
Experience working with senior and executive level leaders
Experience leading, directing, and supervising the work of others
Must be able to demonstrate creative problem and conflict resolution skills
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines and capable of working in a high stress environment
Must be able to think strategically while focus on tactical execution
