Commercial Building Inspector

Responsibilities

Extensive knowledge of local building codes, County ordinances, current construction procedures and technology
Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
Ability to compose reports indicating violations and/or deficiencies
Ability to provide code clarification and permitting process
Ability to positively interact with the other staff members, inspectors, engineers, contractors, governmental entities, and the general public
Must be able to prepare and maintain up to date records of building plan reviews
Must be able to attend meetings as required, ability to conduct plan review meetings with architects, engineers, developers and property owners about code applications, interpretations, and/or violations
Knowledge of modern construction practices, methods, and materials
Ability to read plans and specifications
Perform other related duties as required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
Demonstrate ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgement

Required

DBPR FL Licensed Commercial Building Inspector required or ability to attain
3-5 years of experience in municipal code inspections
Good Driving Record

Preferred

5 years of experience as a Builder, Architect, Engineer, Building Inspector or Building Superintendent preferred
ICC Certifications acceptable, license preferred
Multiple discipline certifications preferred
