Responsibilities
Underwrite residential mortgage loans in compliance with program guidelines established by American Momentum Bank, Fannie Mae, FHA, and Correspondent Investors. Research specific loan characteristics/requirements and advise staff on qualifying credit criteria
Review and verify loan applications and supporting documentation, in compliance with program guidelines established by American Momentum Bank, Fannie Mae, FHA, and Correspondent Investors
Analyze loan risk and request additional information as necessary
Research specific loan characteristics/requirements and advise staff on qualifying credit criteria
Make loan eligibility decisions, approving or rejecting applications
Review and clear loan conditions, in preparation for loan closing
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, bank policy and program guidelines
Document and effectively communicate reasons for the approval/rejection of loans
Serve as resource to origination staff on eligibility questions and loan structuring
Qualification
Required
Mortgage Loan Underwriting experience - 7+ years
Extensive knowledge of Fannie Mae Guidelines and AUS
FHA Direct Endorsement Certified
Strong background in regulatory compliance
High School Diploma or equivalent
High mathematical aptitude
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, loan origination software and Desktop Underwriter AUS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills
Preferred
Mortgage Loan Processing, Closing, or Origination experience preferred – 3+ years
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred
