KSBY is a premier news station located on California's Central Coast, seeking an innovative Director of Engineering to lead their technical vision and operations. This role involves managing broadcast systems, leading a team of engineers, and ensuring high-quality news delivery to the community.

Responsibilities

Model and lead a culture of empathy, customer service and leadership
Lead the research, design, installation and repair of all television, digital, OTT, Internet Systems, high power RF systems, production environments and all associated equipment using current platforms and protocols. Manage building facilities and grounds, including HVAC, power generation and security systems
Partner with the news department to develop, build and support content workflow and support systems including integration and problem-solving software, hardware, networking and infrastructure while facilitating a collaborative environment between newsroom and production control staff
Motivate and manage a staff of professional and technical engineers, operators and IT technicians. Develop and grow staff in technology and Scripps culture to meet the on-going and future technological needs of the station and evaluate staff growth opportunities and assessments
Establish and implement engineering policies and procedures
Evaluate and maintain the spectrum and broadband usage of the facility
Manage projects
Plan, design and document current and future broadcast and digital systems
Collaborate with other departments to determine current and future studio and transmission and workflow needs
Prepare and track capital, expense, repair and maintenance budgets
Use company purchasing management system to purchase and track assets and services as well as replacement cycles
Evaluate equipment solutions
Keep the station compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as well as related local, state, and federal regulations
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

Preferred

BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 10+ years of experience in related field preferred
Prior managerial experience preferred
Network, SBE and/or Project Management certification preferred
