Responsibilities
Drives the engineering design process (concept, design, drawing creation, build, document), installation, PPAP, and long-term technical support of the manufacturing processes. This will include meeting quality, capability, cost and time targets
Develops and implements capital or expense projects. This will include:
Researching new and established manufacturing technologies
Planning the capital and time needed to implement the technology
Writing CER (Capital Expenditure Request) proposals to be reviewed. Upon project approval, this engineer will be responsible for:
Procuring the necessary equipment
Installing it in the manufacturing plant
Meeting cost and time targets
Participates in product and process design reviews. The position is responsible for helping to improve the quality of the product while lowering the cost to produce it
Evaluate new and current product process and provide input regarding manufacturability and cost
Support installation troubleshooting and PLC/Robotic/CNC programming on new or existing machines
Assure that all applicable quality and safety standards are met for new and existing processes
Travel as needed to other Brake & Wheel End facilities for process improvmenet/implementation as well as evaluation of potential suppliers
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related technical area is required (Mechanical or electrical engineering preferred)
2+ years experience in manufacturing engineering
Candidate must demonstrate an ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and GD&T
3D modeling experience is required
Hands-on experience in tooling & fixturing methods is required
Experience in procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment required
Preferred
8+ years experience in manufacturing engineering
Professional experience in manufacturing engineering in an automated CNC environment is desirable
Formal training in CNC machining is desirable
