Principal Remediation Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the design and execution of large-scale site investigation and remediation projects
Oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, providing senior technical guidance and ensuring compliance with BEM’s program and project management standards
Develop and oversee project scopes, budgets, and schedules to meet client and regulatory requirements
Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring satisfaction and maintaining long-term relationships
Oversee subconsultant and subcontractor performance and coordination of field activities
Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget
Technical Leadership across various geographic locations
Provide senior-level technical expertise in soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater remediation, feasibility studies, risk assessment, and site restoration
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists
Mentor junior engineers, geologists, and scientists in technical and professional development
Develop and evaluate remedial alternatives, feasibility studies, and remedial designs for technical proposals or technical work execution
Provide cost estimates which may include life-cycle analysis of multiple remedial alternatives to support competitive proposals or optimization analysis
Apply in-depth knowledge of technologies such as in-situ and ex-situ treatment systems, bioremediation, soil vapor extraction, and monitored natural attenuation
Review and stamp engineering documents and drawings as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Manage communications and negotiations with regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance
Prepare and review technical reports, remedial design documents, and regulatory submittals
Support proposal development and contribute to business development initiatives through client engagement and technical presentations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in at least one U.S. state and ability to reciprocate in other states as needed
15+ years of progressive experience in environmental remediation
Demonstrated experience with CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and state-specific cleanup programs
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proven record of accomplishment in client success management, and business development & marketing
Proficiency with engineering and strong data analysis capabilities
Preferred
Experience managing multi-site portfolios or long-term remediation programs
Knowledge of PFAS and emerging contaminant assessment and remediation
Demonstrated success in mentoring technical staff, client management and fostering team collaboration
Demonstrated past performance experience for conducting remedial alternative analysis on performance-based or competitive opportunities resulting in cost savings and accelerated cleanup timelines
Past performance on projects conducted for the Department of Defense or other Federal agencies
