Responsibilities

Conduct background security checks, screening for fraud, public safety, and national security threats while identifying admissibility and removability indicators
Review and interpret new and established directives, instructions, regulations, etc. and delegations of authority for potential impact on program objectives, operation policies, work operations, and processes
Liaise with law enforcement officials, adjudications, Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS), USCIS officials, and other government agencies for deconfliction
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, position papers, legal decisions, notices to appear in removal proceedings, and responses for litigation
Collect, analyze, and evaluate information from DHS internal systems and make determinations related to national security and egregious public safety issues

Required

You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply for this position
Successfully pass a Background Investigation including financial disclosure
You must pass a drug screening
You must submit resume and supporting documentation
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service
You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position
Liaising with law enforcement, legal counsel, and federal agencies to furnish information, guidance, and assistance regarding policies, regulations, and statutes relating to background checks
Reviewing and analyzing proposed legislation as to its effect on national security and public safety and recommending changes where appropriate
Providing advice and guidance on policy matters relating to national security, fraud and public safely and its impact on adjudications
Selected candidates are required to attend and successfully complete the USCIS Immigration Service Officer Basic (ISO BASIC) Training Program located with the USCIS Academy Training Center in Charleston, SC
