The Senior Director, Supply Chain Services provides strategic planning, direction, and leadership for Supply Chain Management operations, ensuring effective procurement, logistics, and inventory management to meet organizational goals.

Responsibilities
Instills strong management practices and monitors that subordinate managers achieve quality results, maintain the organization's materials management functions, guide professional staff, and reporting on workload. Fosters change management skills in subordinate leadership to promote an agile and flexible workforce
Establishes and implements Supply Chain best practices. Benchmarks best practices within the campus and medical center. Develops, tracks and monitors key performance indicators for each department
Implements best practices to manage equipment and supplies in perpetual and non-perpetual environments, while assuring the fiscal needs of the medical center are achieved. Drive long term business performance through issue resolution, identification of waste and/or redundancy, and cost savings initiatives across the organization
Develops and implements inventory control management to monitor efficient and cost-effective procurement, perform cycle counts, and perform inventory reconciliation during inventory discrepancy and staging of raw materials, consumables, and supplies. Reduce overall supply risk though contingency planning and understanding of supplier capabilities
Develops, implements, and monitors the short and long range financial plans for the materials management functions for the health system. Collaborates with senior management on fiscal planning proposals. Oversees through subordinate managers the accountability and stewardship of resources to meet budget targets. Analyzes budget variances and implements corrective action plans. Evaluates when additional resources are required or when resources can be cut but quality and productivity can remain
Develops and monitors efficient and cost-effective supply chain systems throughout the organization. Recommends and supports the ongoing process improvement activities within the department and organization. Analyzes material cost variances, identifies root causes of discrepancies, and provides effective corrective action
Develops and implements materials management procedures. Oversees consistent application and compliance of systems, policies, and programs across the materials management areas of responsibility to ensure compliance with external regulations and professional standards. Oversees the development of business plans to introduce new and evolving technologies for materials management services at the health system in accordance with best practices
Counsels senior management regarding issues of significant matters. Advocates, influences and negotiates supply chain and procurement activities with senior managers from different functions. Maintains an external presence and increases sphere of influence through participating in professional organizations and societies and through developing relations with industry leaders
Participates in the direct negotiation of contracts and equipment purchases. Identify and recommend new and/or improved supply management systems across the entire organization
Forecasts workforce planning and talent development needs based on organizational strategy and assists in the development of staffing plans. Works with subordinate managers to evaluate the core competencies in supply chain, and to ensure assessment plans and tools for the health system
Ensures ongoing mentorship and relevant leadership/professional development programs are provided for Materials Management leaders across the health system. Provides employee professional growth opportunities and promotes effective teamwork and collaboration and a culture open to change. Works with senior leaders to develop a succession planning pipeline for Materials Management leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related area and eight or more years of relevant experience in a large health system, including progressive leadership experience
Advanced knowledge of the most current material management best practices and systems
Advanced knowledge of relevant internal policy, external regulations, and best practices
Advanced ability to lead and advise cross-organization workgroups
Advanced organization skills, including meeting facilitation and decision making
Proactive with proven ability to execute on multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced and demanding environment
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate work with others, both internally and externally, to accomplish strategic goals and objectives
Advanced problem solving skills to address issues when no precedent exists and to develop creative alternatives
Advanced verbal and written communication skills, listening, critical thinking and analytical skills
Preferred
Advanced degree in a relevant field
Director-level supply chain leadership experience within a complex academic medical center or health system
Experience supporting operations in acute and non-acute facilities
Track record of activating newly developed facilities (hospitals and clinics) and integrating acquired existing facilities
Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex initiatives through subordinate directors and managers
Successful record of attracting and retaining high performing team members
Talent for engaging and collaborating with key faculty and administrative leaders
