Responsibilities

Install, repair, overhaul, and perform service and maintenance on a variety of commercial and industrial heating and air conditioning systems
Apply an understanding of electrical control theory as it relates to HVAC systems
Operate Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS), laptop computers, interface devices and handheld microprocessors to monitor program trend data and analyze problems
Modify and repair variable frequency drive motors, air quality sensors, economizer control systems, pneumatic functions modules, network controllers, variable air volume controls, dampers, valve actuators, and digital input controllers
Read blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, manufacturer's and engineering design's specifications, and program architecture
Work with Direct Digital Controls (DDC), Variable Air Volume (VAV), and many operating systems in order to perform service and maintenance to the equipment

Required

Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) without more than normal supervision
Troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain commercial or industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems or energy monitoring and control systems
Apply a comprehensive principle of electrical control theory
Repair, maintain and service a variety of complete electrical and electronic systems with mechanical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic subsystems and equipment and electronic controls
Interpret electronic, electrical, and mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete control systems
Independently perform specific procedures and techniques to repair and replace a variety of system parts and components to include circuit cards/boards, transmitters, receivers, hard wiring, controls and connectors
Operate laptop computers, interface devices, and handheld microprocessors, needed to monitor programs trend data, modify, schedule, reset, and analyze problems for variable frequency drive motors and air quality sensors
Read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, manufacturer's and engineering design's specifications, program architecture, and properly utilize test field equipment
Possess and maintain an EPA certification for the handling and control of refrigerants and other Ozone Depleting Substances (OZDs)
