Responsibilities

Develop calculations, document designs, and specifications
Conduct structural analyses, which include loading conditions such as wind, seismic, blast, and pressurization
Assist in structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
Responsible for direct reports in all aspects, including hiring, training, mentoring, deliverable quality assurance (QA)/ quality control (QC), performance reviews, performance improvements and terminations
Responsible for coordinating with other supervisors and directors to resource projects, contributing to business development and proposals, assist with recruiting and interviewing, and creating/revising/improving department standards
Work directly with the client representative to ask and answer questions related to the Structural design
Effectively analyzes resource needs, organizes, and allocates resources
Understand resourcing and department budgeting tools and leverages them for resource planning
Periodically review project budgets and schedules
Track and approve PTO
Facilitate weekly team meetings and participate in a department meetings
Through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training, increase knowledge and skills in engineering discipline
Perform timely employee reviews and development plans for employees
Coaches and trains employees and delegates responsibility to develop staff
Conduct individual 1:1 with direct reports
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
Participate in proposal efforts by developing budgets, identifying scope and resources, review schedules, provide feedback on proposal documents
Facilitate handoff to assigned resources at project kickoff as needed
Leverage department utilization forecast to identify staffing needs
Participate in the interview process
Initiate new hire process and conduct onboarding with new hires
Lead and manage Structural only projects as applicable

Required

This position requires a BSCE and MSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
PE License required
8+ years of experience working as a member of a project team environment in the design of oil and gas facilities, with a focus on the analysis of steel structures and concrete foundations and supports for new facilities, or modifications or replacements for existing facilities
Technically knowledgeable of the practical application of structural engineering including analysis for structural supports, loads, and design integrity
Proficiency with any of the following programs: MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
