Unity Health is seeking a Nurse Intern who is currently enrolled in an accredited LPN program. The role involves performing direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance of licensed nurses, ensuring comfort and safety measures, and adhering to infection control and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

Perform direct and indirect care duties under the guidance and direction of the RN and LPN

Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental, spiritual, and social needs; comfort and safety measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; elimination needs; and tasks delegated by the primary licensed nurse

Performs skilled procedures under the supervision of the licensed nurse

Indirect patient care includes but is not limited to cleaning occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintaining an environment that is neat and free of hazards to the patient’s well being; assisting with clerical tasks as assigned

An understanding of and willingness to follow infection control and safety guidelines is mandatory

Supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values and adheres to Unity Health’s policies and procedures

Required

Enrolled in an accredited college of nursing in an LPN program and at a minimum in the first semester of the nursing coursework

Must have current BLS certification

The LPN student must present a nursing skills checklist completed by their nursing instructor to indicate the skills the student can perform

Ability to perform duties for direct and indirect patient care

An understanding of and willingness to follow infection control and safety guidelines is mandatory

Preferred

Previous experience as a nursing assistant desirable, but not required

Must have recommendation of nursing faculty
