Maintainer - Water Division
The City of West Allis is hiring for a Water Maintainer to join their dedicated Public Works team. In this skilled role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s water distribution system, ensuring the health and safety of the community.

Responsibilities
Serve as a competent person on excavation sites, ensuring safety and compliance
Direct and assist crews in water main repairs, valve maintenance, and service leak responses
Operate heavy motorized equipment, including backhoes, loaders, drill rigs, and hydro-excavation trucks
Perform semi-skilled construction and maintenance tasks on water infrastructure
Lead small crews and assist in training Maintenance Repairers
Maintain accurate records, work orders, and reports using asset management systems
Read and interpret GIS utility maps, as-built drawings, and construction plans
Communicate effectively with residents, contractors, and other departments
Respond to emergencies such as water main breaks, pressure test failures, and hydrant flushing
Qualification
Required
Possession of a High School diploma/GED
Possession of a valid CDL (Class B, C with airbrakes) and Tanker Endorsement
2+ years of water infrastructure with backhoe experience
Preferred
Utility or contractor experience running a construction crew
Familiarity with underground utilities and the equipment used to repair water mains and services
