Developmental Specialist-Contractor
Achieva is a long-standing organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families. The Developmental Specialist role involves conducting developmental evaluations, creating individual program plans, and providing consultations for developmentally delayed infants and toddlers, while working collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing the development of infants in the areas of Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Communication, Cognitive, Social, and Adaptive for Annual Evaluations and evaluations on the Individual Service Plan (IFSP)
Interprets results of the developmental evaluation and writes an evaluation report identifying the child’s strengths and needs including therapeutic concerns and suggestions for treatment. Cooperates with other agencies evaluating the child
Develops an Individual Family Intervention Plan in family-oriented terms, based on the evaluation report recommendations. Discusses evaluation information with the parents and cooperatively develops goals and objectives. Establishes and maintains a supportive relationship with families
Maintains accurate records (i.e. data collection, evaluation tool, log sheets, and log notes) of child's progress and turns in log sheets weekly to the Developmental Supervisor
Develops and implements treatment plans to address the IFSP goals/outcomes. Provides information to parents regarding child development
Maintains equipment, toys, and community settings as appropriate and required
Schedules sessions for delivery of services in community settings as appropriate and required
Assists with the child’s transition from program to preschool or other programs, including completion of documents and attendance at transition meetings
Refers intense families with intense family issues to service coordination for social work referral
Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with other disciplines and agencies working with the child and family
Attends in services, staff meetings, and other training as required
Demonstrates knowledge regarding other child development programs in Allegheny County
Assists when necessary in seminars, conferences, and public speaking engagements pertaining to early intervention. Develops and presents presentations to parent and professional groups on early intervention. Submits in-service suggestions
Chairs staffing and case reviews on children from their caseload when necessary. Chairs IFSP conferences
Functions as a mentor to interning students from area universities and schools
May be required to provide a cell phone for availability for work purposes. May be eligible for cell phone stipend
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
The equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree and related experience with children with disabilities and developmental delays
One's years experience working with children with disabilities and their families or a supervised practicum in a college or university working with children with disabilities and their families
Act 33/34 clearances
Valid PA driver's license
Transportation
The ability to lift and position children
Preferred
Master's degree in Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, Child Development, or related field
