Fire Protection CSE (Senior Engineer)
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). They are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to provide leadership in resolving fire protection issues at nuclear and high-hazard facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities
Solve fire protection system problems of high complexity using a well-defined set of technologies
Ensure compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards
Prepare or contribute to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals
Perform design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices
Perform frequent coordination of discipline information with other departments within the company and with outside vendors
Serve as a mentor to less experienced engineers
Develop a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines
Lead work within the discipline on high complexity projects
Define specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests
Perform other duties assigned by Management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees
Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering
Certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) for Architects
Professional Engineer license
At least 5 years' relevant experience
In depth knowledge of fire protection system related instrumentation & control, electrical, mechanical or electromechanical components
Self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Strong time-management skills
Well organized, maintain safe work habits and have a broad range of technical interests and education
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and technical documents
Ability to interpret codes and standards applicable to the position
Must possess a valid driver's license
U.S. citizenship
At least 18 years of age
Preferred
Minimum of 3-years' experience in the Department of Energy complex working as a Fire Protection Engineer
Minimum of 1-year experience conducting Fire Hazards Analyses and Fire Protection Assessments for Nuclear Facilities
